Charity Bake Sale

In November, LSI/IH Portsmouth hosted a bake sale in order to raise money for a local charity URBOND (https://www.urbond.org/).

We had a great selection of cakes and even some savoury items which were all made by our generous staff members. Have a look at the delicious treats below:

We were very lucky to have help from our Oberlin University students from Japan who helped to sell the cakes during their lunch break. Thank you for giving your time to help us raise money. In total, we managed to raise a grand total of £170 for URBOND!

Urbond

URBOND was founded in 2013 and is a registered charity in the UK and in the Republic of Guinea. Their two main purposes are:

– To advance children’s education

– To promote racial harmony and diversity

In order to achieve their purpose to advance children’s education, the URBOND Education programme was set up. This programme seeks to provide free primary education to children who do not have the opportunity to go to school. Along with this, they also aim to promote racial harmony and diversity within our city of Portsmouth. In order to achieve this, they use Community Integration activities, such as

  • Socio-cultural events
  • Community Works, Workshops and Seminars
  • Community Fitness Activities
  • Women Empowerment Workshops

We are so proud to have raised money to contribute to this fantastic charity and we want to say a huge thank you to all our staff and students who helped us to raise £170.
