English Teacher Training Courses
Here at LSI/IH Portsmouth we offer a range of different teacher and university lecturer training courses (OID number:E10037748)
Our teacher training courses consist of ‘Methodology and Language for Secondary School Teachers’ and ‘CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) for Secondary School Teachers’. These courses are suitable for non-native secondary school teachers of learners aged 11+ teaching either English as a foreign language or teaching their curriculum subject (e.g history) in English (CLIL).
We also offer a ‘Methodology and Language for University Lecturers and Admin staff’ course which is suitable for non-native university staff who are delivering courses in English to students aged 18+ and for staff who have a need to expand their knowledge, accuracy, and fluency in English.
We ask participants to complete a needs analysis form before arrival so we can focus on particular needs and skills.
English Courses for Overseas Teachers
These Teacher Training courses are designed to improve the theoretical and practical skills of non-native secondary school teachers to take back into the classroom in their own countries. The course isn’t suitable for primary school teachers.
CLIL Courses
These courses are designed to improve teaching skills in the CLIL classroom. Whether you are new to CLIL and want support with teaching it or you are experienced but want to ‘brush up’ your skills, this course will have something for you!
English Courses for University Lecturers and Admin Staff
This course is designed to improve the theoretical and practical skills of non-native university lecturers and administration staff. Participants are encouraged to share experiences with participants from other countries and other subject specialisms.
Teacher Training Courses Accommodation
We understand how important it is to be happy with where you are living while you are studying with us. We will do everything to give you the best option to support you with your living arrangements. You can choose to live in a local homestay family or with other students in our nearby self-catering houses.
Teacher Training Social Programme
With this course you can choose activities from both the General English social programme and Executive English social programme. Both programmes are full, varied and include weekly sporting events, dinner in restaurants and cultural and educational activities.
