New partnerships for LSI/IH Portsmouth’s Pre-Sessional

New university partnerships for PSE courses

LSI/IH Portsmouth has been running Pre-Sessional courses for 15 years and since 2010 has seen over 1,500 amazing students successfully pass our course and continue their studies at university. LSI/IH Portsmouth has always worked very closely with the University of Portsmouth and ICP and we have built up a great partnership over the years and been thrilled to see them go from strength to strength, with Portsmouth now ranked in the top 25 universities in the country by The Guardian. But we are now pleased to announce that we are also able to add four excellent new universities and colleges to our list of partners: the University of Chichester, Kingston University, Bangor University and Cambridge Education Group.

University of Chichester

The University of Chichester is just a couple of miles down the coast from LSI/IH Portsmouth and is spread between two campuses in the lovely towns of Chichester and Bognor Regis. The atmosphere is friendly and personal and you really get the feeling that each student is an individual here and nobody gets lost in the crowd, surely one of the reasons why they always do well for student retention which is amongst the highest in the country. The campuses are also a great blend of beautiful historic buildings and brand new ultra-high-tech facilities. Their new Tech Park, opened by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in October 2018, is the jewel in their crown. With a long history of being a teaching college, it is no surprise that Chichester is also known for its quality of teaching and high student satisfaction, recognised by the achievement of a Silver Award in the Government-backed Teaching Excellence Framework.

Kingston University

Kingston University is on the edge of London, close enough to be just 30 minutes from the centre but far enough away to be one of the safest boroughs in London with pretty views of the River Thames and Richmond Park. Spread over a number of different campuses, Kingston University has cutting-edge facilities and several courses are ranked amongst the top in the country including Fashion, Pharmacy, Journalism and Publishing, Architecture and Sports Science. It also has a very successful record of helping graduates to launch start-up businesses and has been ranked in the top of one or two in the country in this area for several years running. Finally, its huge student body of 20,000 people, 3,000 of whom are international and come from over 140 countries, creates a really dynamic, multicultural student body and makes it a really exciting place to live and study.

Bangor University

Bangor is a historic university which was founded in 1884 and has a long tradition of academic excellence. It ranks well for both research and teaching and was awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework. Students also rate the teaching highly and the university ranked within the top 10 in the country for student satisfaction in 2018. The University also offers an amazing environment: from its impressive new Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre, opened in 2016, to its excellent student accommodation which was recognised as the best in the country in 2016 and 2018, and to its stunning surroundings which encompass both a beautiful coastline and rugged mountains, it is a very special place in which to live and study.

Cambridge Education Group

The Cambridge Education Group is a large and highly-respected international education provider which has been offering pathways for international students to universities around the world since 1952. Its number of partner institutions is truly impressive which means that students have a huge range of options upon successful completion of a course with CEG. Currently, the Group provides Foundation, International Year 1 and Pre-Masters courses for Birkbeck, Royal Holloway, the Courtauld Institute of Art, Queen Mary University of London, the Royal Veterinary College, Goldsmiths, Coventry University, the University of Sunderland, the University of Central Lancashire, London South Bank University, the University of Hull, and the University of Reading. It also provides International year 1 for Business for the University of Leeds, the University of Sheffield, the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Bradford, the University of Huddersfield, Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Liverpool, the University of Salford, and Leeds Beckett University. Across the various colleges around the country, the group promises excellent teaching, modern attractive facilities and superb personal support.

Feedback

We have had some lovely feedback from students who have done our Pre Sessional Courses this year – here are just a couple:

I feel so lucky to be a student in LSI/IH Portsmouth doing pre-sessional course in 2018.  I loved the class from the start and never grew bored.  LSI/IH Portsmouth teachers helped me to be organized, motivated, and above all, interested in learning, which is no small feat. Rabab

I strongly recommend studying in this course. I have the ability to study master easily and I have the possibility of logical thinking and analysis, which helped me a lot in my research at the university. Abdullah
