What social activities are organised by LSI Portsmouth?
We know how important it is to have fun as well as learn English whilst at LSI Portsmouth! We therefore have a full-time Social Programme Organiser whose job is to make your time spent studying in Portsmouth as enjoyable as possible. The social programme we offer is full and varied, and includes weekly sporting events, nights out, and cultural and educational activities. During your time here, you can also go to many events organised by the community and Portsmouth University which is a great way to make friends with British students!
Have fun and improve your English with Catt, our social programme organiser!
Catt has worked at LSI Portsmouth since 2014. She was born in the area so she knows all about the best places to go and fun things to do. She used to be a teacher so not only can she answer any questions about the English language, but she is used to talking to students of all different levels from different countries. If you have any questions about the social programme or if there is something special you’d like to do while you’re in Portsmouth, come and have a chat with her and she’ll be happy to help.
Please feel free to email Catt at [email protected].
Just some of the after-school activities we offer include football with our teachers, badminton, conversation club and afternoon tea, pub and club nights, plus visits to local restaurants. We also offer visits to the local museums and tourist attractions, including the Spinnaker Tower. Our social programme is always changing, and is tailored to meet the needs of all students.
Not only is our social programme really fun, it’s a wonderful way to meet new friends, practice your conversational skills and improve your English. Catt is dedicated to making sure that every second spent at LSI is the best it can be for you.
Our recent trip to Oxford
University of Portsmouth
Our students are also able to join University of Portsmouth gym for a discounted rate (includes access to the gym facilities and all classes)! We are located in the heart of the University area of the city, so there is great access to subsidised cafes in the area too.
Sometimes, we can help our students to join clubs and societies at the University of Portsmouth. If you have any hobbies that you wish to continue during your stay, such as Basketball or Photography, you can ask the social programme organiser to contact the University for you. It is sometimes possible for you to join their activities!
You are also eligible to join the National Union of Students (NUS). You can get the membership card at the University and this will give you lots of discounts in shops and restaurants.
Our Social Hub
The social hub is located on the 2nd floor of our school. It’s a place where students can relax between classes, grab a coffee, catch up with friends, or see what’s on the social programme that week.
