Reading Newspapers – Learning Tip to Improve your English from Luis

Improve your English with Reading.

There are many ways to access information nowadays, whether it be through social media, talking to your family and friends or watching the TV. Though they may be less popular than they were, reading newspapers will always be another way to keep up with what is happening in the world. In addition, it can be a really good way of improving your English as well as having a better understanding of culture in English speaking countries.

Reading newspapers, either in print form or online, is something that can be done at any time and for as long as you like at any one time. When it comes to improving your English it’s a good idea to read newspapers on a regular basis, though it doesn’t have to be every day. What is important is what you choose to read. It’s best to read articles about subjects that interest you, as you will find them easier to understand and you will also already know something about what is being talked about in these articles.

When reading about a particular subject try and read about the same story in more than one newspaper so that you can see how different newspapers approach the same subject. Note down key vocabulary which appears again and again in the articles and which may be new for you. Remember to keep this new vocabulary in contextual sentences so as to make it easier to remember in the future. Do not forget that other websites such as the BBC online and CNN online have lots of really interesting articles that you can access.
