From Student to Teacher – How to Really Succeed in English

Please Note:

We do not run the CELTA course here at LSI/IH Portsmouth, this is an information blog.

Living in another country, even for a short time, can really have an impact on a person’s life. Because of this, many students who have studied with us come and visit us after they have left.  It feels very much like a family away from home to some of them. They stay with a host family and then they are with us throughout the day studying their English.

One of these lovelies came back to visit us yesterday; Raquel Andres Mendieta.  Raquel started studying with us back in 2016. She came to us with an already very good level of English but wanted to be even better. She started in General English at Advanced, then studied the Cambridge Advanced course and went on to study the Cambridge Proficiency Exam.  In all, she was in Portsmouth for about two years, and she made the absolute most of her time here.

She was house manager for one of our self-catering student houses and then, she went on to study the CELTA so that she could teach English as a foreign language.

That is one huge achievement, and everyone is so pleased for her, but not surprised as she is a very determined lady.  So we were thrilled when she came back to see us, and really wish her all the absolute best with her new career.

While she was here she also made a lovely video in Spanish explaining her time with us.
